"Toward an inclusive culture and pedagogy"

24 November 2015

This project aims to improve the inclusion of students with disabilities in higher education within the network of Catholic universities. This support program is the long term and should enable universities to improve their practices and implement training that facilitate the reception of students with disabilities.

To start this initiative, the Centre organised a first meeting of formation in the Pontificia Universidad Catolica Madre y Maestra (PUCMM, Santiago de los Caballeros, Dominican Republic), in which included representatives of four Catholic universities d'Amerique Centrale. Were also present Prof. Msgr. Guy-Réal Thivierge, IFCU Secretary General and CCR Director, and Mr Nicholas Vergier, IFCU project officer. At this meeting, we had the honor of being accompanied by a group of three experts in the field of disability. Dr. Monica Duque, Dean of the Law Faculty (Catholic University of Porto, Portugal), Dr. Gabriel Martinez Rico, Deputy President of Capacitas Campus and Dean of the School of Psychology (Catholic University of Valencia, Spain), and Dr. Jose Tena Medialdea, Director of the Office of Quality (Catholic University of Valencia, Spain).

The CCR-IFCU has designed this project as a true service to the participating universities. It aims to stimulate thinking within Catholic universities, especially in terms of inclusive practices and adapt them to students with disabilities.
