Water, environment and health

The main objective consists of studying the water supply, use and treatment in the broad and diverse context of the participating institutions, with a view to provide solutions to the problems of water quality and its effects on the environment, as well as on the population’s health.

Basically, the topics studied are as follows:

  • Basins, gradients and rivers: anthropogenic impact, waste water discharge and waste water treated
  • waste water, treatments and specific contributions
  • water and health: microbiological and virus-based polluting substances, their control, problems and proposals to deal with the different kinds of waters studied
  • water and health ; chemical polluting substances, their detection and analytical control
  • water and environment: educating society to a sustainable use of hydric resources educating society to a responsible use of water as a common good that must be sustainable, correctly distributed, universally available, and comply with health standards, given that water waste is ethically unacceptable.

Three strands have been favoured:

  • water and environment
  • water, society and health
  • water and training for a responsible use
