Towards a better understanding of families at risk

The project aimed at gaining better understanding of families that belong to contexts exposed to destabilizing factors, rendering them more fragile. Participants sought to establish contact and create way to bring institutions and people, who work with vulnerable families on a daily basis so as to share knowledge and know-how. The final objective of the project was to allow for better-adapted assistance and initiatives.

The six Latin American universities participating in the project deepened their understanding of issues of special concern for the regions involved, paying particular attention to the following :

  • Families and street work (Paraguay)
  • Families with members that abuse drugs (Uruguay)
  • Representations of the family by professionals working with families (Chile)
  • Families displaced by armed conflicts (Colombia)
  • Families in varied at-risk situations (Brazil)
