ACISE (IFCU) held its 26th International Colloquium in Rome (LUMSA)

The Association of Catholic Institutes of Education (ACISE), the IFCU sectoral group on Education, held its 26th annual Colloquium from 8 to 10 April 2015 at the Libera Università Maria SS. Assunta (LUMSA) in Rome. The inaugural session was chaired by Mons. Vincenzo Zanni, Secretary of the Congregation for Catholic Education), Francesco Bonini, Rector of  LUMSA, Pedro R. Ferreira, President of IFCU and Juan Carlos Torre, President of ACISE.

 

The theme, “Renewing the passion for education in Catholic universities”, was broached in the inaugural lecture by Prof. Luigi Alici (University of Macerata) and in each of the 24 communications that were presented and distributed on the following questions: Which new models for the Catholic University ? What role for the Catholic University : a whole education and a professional commitment ? What kind of integration between a solidary commitment and a university training? Towards other forms of teacher training? What new learning is at stake in the Catholic University? How to update the passion for education in the Catholic universities?

The meeting, which was organised by LUMSA, the Congregation for Catholic Education and  ACISE (IFCU) brought together 75 participants from 17 countries: Germany, Brazil, Colombia, Côte d'Ivoire, Slovakia, Spain, France, Honduras, India, Italy, Lebanon, Mexico, Mozambique, Poland, Portugal, UK and Dominican Republic. The General Assembly of ACISE took place at the end of the Colloquium and the new Administrative Board was elected. It is made up of the following members: Joaquim Azevedo (Universidade Católica Portuguesa), Georges Hobeika (Université du Saint Esprit de Kaslik), François-Xavier Hubert (Institut Catholique de Paris), Christian Jamet (Université Catholique de l'Ouest, Angers), Marian Nowak (Katolicki Uniwersytet Jana Pawla II, Lublin), and Giuseppe Tognon (LUMSA, Rome). The first meeting of the Administrative Board appointed Prof. Joaquim Azevedo (Universidade Católica Portuguesa) as the new president of the Association. He succeeds Prof. Juan Carlos Torre Puente (Universidad Pontificia Comillas). The AB renewed the mandate of Christian Jamet as Secretary-Treasurer of the Association.

The organisation of the 27th Colloquium of ACISE was entrusted to the Katolicki Uniwersytet Jana Pawla II (Lublin, Poland) and it will take place from Wednesday 30 March to Friday 1 April 2016.
