Cybersecurity Workshop 18 & 19 April, 2016
The workshop was organised by the Departments of CSA (Computer Science and Application) and BBA (Bachelor in Business Administration) in partnership with Rosefinch Consultancy Services Pvt. Ltd, a Siliguri based company and authorised partner of EC Council, New Mexico, USA. The company was represented by M. Chandra Bhanu Shome, proprietor himself. The program was inaugurated with opening prayer by Fr. Rector, Mathew Pulingathil. Two qualified instructors from Rosefinch, Mr. Amrit Chettri and Mr. Rohan Chettri led the workshop.
In the first day, topics from the CSCU (Certified Secure Computer User) course were covered, and in the second day, elements of CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker) and CHFI (Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator) courses were also discussed. The first session was theoretical which was meant to lay the conceptual foundation of what is involved in Cyber security. Then the following sessions became increasingly interesting as many concepts were practically demonstrated by the instructors with the participants also joining the exercise real-time using their own laptops.
Towards the end of the workshop, participants were given the registration code for the CSCU course and they could get the attendance certificate from the EC Council portal www.aspen.eccouncil.org. The portal also provided participants with the study material should they be interested to give the certification exam in future. Overall, the participants were very excited about what they learnt and the opening that are possible if pursued as a career option. There were 26 students and four faculties.
The faculty community from the two departments would like to express their gratitude to the College management, especially to the Vice Principal Fr. Aju Kurien, whose able guidance and encouragement was behind the successful execution of the program.
