SALESIAN COLLEGE ORGANISES A NATIONAL LEVEL INTER COLLEGE FEST
The first day of the event started at 09:30 am with the inauguration and the lamp lighting ceremony. In his inauguration speech Principal Fr. (Prof.) George Thadathil mentioned that “Transformation takes place when we innovate, Innovision is a new vision to innovate,” which highlighted the intent of Salesian College in organising such events. The college Rector Fr. (Dr.) Mathew Pulingathil also encouraged the students to participate in such events and declared Innovision 2015 as officially open.
Innovision 2015 was categorized into various areas of interest such as Inscape which included competitions like collage making, debate, poster making, and short films, Culfest included events like Fusion Bands, Solo Vocals, Photography, Gone in 3 minutes and Dance Off, Savoir faire, Commerce & Management Fest with programmes like Product launch, Crysis, Biz Plan, Bulls &Bears and Top Man. Science& Technology fest namely 'Technokrat' included programmes like Know it all, Joystick, Titan, Hardware Guru, and D-Bugger.Innovision 2015 also had guest performances by Apurva and the Vibes and also by Mr. Donald Lepcha the lead vocalist of the Nomads fame.
The second day of Innovision 2015 had programmes like short film competition, photography competition, Gone in 3 minutes, theme dance and Dance Off. Mr and Ms. Innovision, a fashion show organised in collaboration with High FM also attracted a huge crowd. All the events received a huge response from the students.The fest came to an end at around 5pm with the closing speeches by Father George Thadathil, Principal Salesian College, Father (Dr.) Mathew Pulingathil, Rector, Salesian College Siliguri Campus andthe announcement of the results and giving away prizes and certificates.
Innovision 2015 was a successful event as it provided the students not only a platform to showcase their talents but to make changes in the society by introducing new ideas and vision. The designers and executives of the programme were Mr Patrick Johnson and Mr Peter Lepcha along with student council and a team of volunteers from among the nearly 1000 students on campus. The fun and camaraderie that revolved around the preparations and execution of the event was indeed a manifestation of Salesian educational style.
