Nature of justification:

The debate which
should not have happened

The dispute about nature of justification as taught by St Paul
has been one of the longest and most divisive in history of Christianity.
Yet, what did the Apostle of the Gentiles mean by God's 'righteousness' and 'justification'?
Have we misunderstood his teaching and argued about what he did not really say?
The question can only be answered through correct contextual understanding of these words
as used by the first century Christian Jew that St Paul was.

 Speaker

Dr Wojciech Szypula, SVD

BA (DWC, Nysa); MDiv / Ma (CTU, Chicago); PhD (Gregorian University, Rome)

Fr Wojciech taught at St Augustine College, on both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, between 2012 and 2014. Many of our students considered his courses the most engaging (and demanding!) in the Theology programmes. Last year he moved to Nairobi, Kenya, where he works as a lecturer in Biblical Studies at Tangaza University College. But he is still teaching for St Augustine as a sessional lecturer. Pauline teaching on righteousness and justification is one of his special areas of interest.
