TRANS-BORDER INSTITUTE TO HOST BORDER FILM WEEK

TRANS-BORDER INSTITUTE TO HOST BORDER FILM WEEK

SAN DIEGO, CA: On February 24 to February 26, the University of San Diego’s Trans-Border Institute will be hosting the 9th Annual Border Film Week. Held at the Joan B. Kroc Institute for Peace and Justice Theatre from 6:00-8:30 p.m., the documentaries feature stories about border culture, and make relevant the issues that face those in San Diego as well as Mexican and Latin American communities.

Every year, the Institute brings to campus award-winning documentary films that explore border issues and provide the university community with an opportunity to explore cultural relationships as well as insight into a variety of perspectives. The 2015 themes focus on migration and gender, the drug war, and interconnectedness among communities, with each night focusing on a key issue. The events will also feature short films, with discussions with the documentary filmmakers and faculty members to follow the screenings.

The event is free and open to the public, however to guarantee a seat, please register at http://www.sandiego.edu/peacestudies/institutes/tbi/detail.php?_focus=49880.
