Cross-Cultural Glances at Today's Societies: Constants, Tensions and Evolutions

It is often said that change is the only unchanging aspect of society. Constant change has been one of the most permanent features of modern society. I would like to stress historically the importance of the concept of, "Land" as being the sphere of domination in Asia (you may apply it to other regions too). Land and domination traditionally held by the Monarchy and the elite ruling class, changed with the economy of small peasant producers is an account of the period between the resolution of feudal class conflict and the formation of capitalist class relations. The clash between dominant classes culminates in the rise of a wholly new society and economy. The transition from feudalism to capitalism and subsequently to democracy have emanated from people‘s movements against traditional symbols of dominance - land ownership. The Arab world had held back on this change as much of its ruling class had shades of this dominance. It is now playing catch up with the democratic world, any social science study would have predicted the strife for democracy going on in that part of the world as "A happening in waiting".
